Anonymous HIV Home Tests have been recently approved by the FDA. Now, within your own home, you're able to administer the test yourself and send it off for results. Currently, the following tests exist:

  • Home Access Health Corporation offers Home Access Express® for $49.95 with results in three business days and Home Access® for $39.95 with results in about a week. The latter uses the U.S. postal service to deliver a client's blood sample to the lab instead of FedEx: That's the only difference in the two products. Both are over 99.9% accurate and both have 24 hour a day, seven day a week access to professional HIV counselors.
    

    While complete details as to the procedure are listed at the Home Access web site, the procedure is basically as follows:

    1. Purchase the kit.
    2. Prick your finger with the included lanclet.
    3. Allow the blood to drop into a small circle on the absorbent paper.
    4. Send the properly packaged blood sample in the enclosed envelopes.
    5. When the allotted time has passed, call an 800 number with your pin code.
    6. Your results are given and access to a counselor is available.

  Your name and personal information is never linked with your pin code. While you do give your name and personal information when ordering the kit, that information is not linked to the pin code: You are simply sent one of the pre-packaged boxes.
